High Notes Music Tuition was founded in April 2001 with a simple goal: to create a welcoming music school where students feel comfortable, supported, and inspired to learn.
With six purpose-built teaching rooms across two floors and a comfortable waiting lounge for parents and students, our school offers a calm, friendly atmosphere that puts people at ease. Lessons are tailored to each individual, allowing every student to progress at their own pace.
Whether music is a hobby, a passion, or a potential career path, High Notes welcomes everyone — children, teenagers, and adults alike.

Meet our team of expert tutors
Cathryn Lane
Having taught privately and worked at other music schools in Lancashire, I set up and opened High Notes Music in April 2001 teaching Piano, Clarinet, Saxophone, Flute and Music Theory.
We have now been open for almost 25 years and continue to provide music tuition for children and adults, all ages and stages!
I studied Music & Italian at Reading University where I performed with the university and local orchestras as well as being a member of the Choral Society. I spent 1 year living in Italy, studying Music at Siena University.
I have taught many pupils, working through ABRSM grades, as well as those working towards their GCSE or A Level Music, those completing Duke of Edinburgh awards and some just playing as a hobby.
I love working alongside the fantastic teaching team here at High Notes and am very proud of the reputation we have built up over the years.
Maddy Greener
Hi, I’m Maddy!
I grew up in Reading playing the bassoon, recorder, piano, and singing.
I studied for my Music degree at the Royal College of Music and then continued onto a Masters at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
I have played bassoon with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the English National Opera Orchestra; however, more recently teaching has become my focus as I really enjoy teaching the next generation of musicians.
I have been at High Notes for over 2 years and also teach at Merchant Taylors.
I began teaching the woodwind family of instruments, piano, and voice at the age of 18 and have continued ever since, so I have over a decade of experience working in schools and music centres.
My students are wonderful and bring so much joy!
David Elliot
Hi I’m David.
I am an experienced guitarist and has been at High Notes for over 15 years, teaching the full range from acoustic to bass as well as piano/keyboard.
I completed BTEc Nat Dip in Performing Arts (Music) and have taught in Liverpool and Chester, with Tafl Music and onThe Wirral as well as here at High Notes.
Rob Langford
I'm Rob Langford, I've been a guitar teacher for over 10 years, teaching both privately and as part of Sefton Music Services & High Notes Music.
I'm an accomplished tutor with Graded ABRSM certifications.
I pride myself on a depth of learning and expanding practical skills, both as a musician and guitarist. I've helped many students cultivate their knowledge, understanding and achieve their potential; whether that’s gaining qualifications, starting out in careers in the music industry or guiding them through applications for universities/colleges!
I love bringing a sense of fun and excitement to learning the guitar prioritising a strong sense of developing the fundamentals.
Music is one of the most fascinating phenomena in the world and I still love practicing and improving to this day! - I hope to inspire this sense of joy in all my pupils.
Michelle Taylor
Hi I’m Michelle.
I’ve been teaching music for over 20 years, over 6 here at High Notes, and work with students of all ages, helping them build confidence and enjoy learning Music and Drama.
I teach Singing, Clarinet, Saxophone and Drama, covering everything from classical to contemporary styles.
I have performed in numerous cover and original bands and as a solo artist, worked as a touring actress with a Theatre in Education company, and have a background in theatre and directing.
I love tailoring lessons to each individual and support students through ABRSM, Rockschool, and LAMDA exams in a relaxed, encouraging way.
Dan Weymouth
Hi I’m Dan.
I studied in London at DrumTech (now BIMM), and have spent over 20 years performing as a session drummer with bands and recording artists across the UK.
A career highlight came in 2012, when I served as a drum leader in the London Olympics Opening Ceremony.
Based in Sefton, I now teach drums in schools across the area and offer private tuition, while continuing to perform live with a variety of bands on evenings and weekends. I have been part of the High Notes team for over 5 years.
